SINGELPARK

The Friends of the Singelpark Foundation, Leiden City Council, LOLA Landscape Architects and many residents and organisations in the city worked together to link this unique network of contiguous urban parks. Since 2021, you have been able to take a walk (almost) all the way along Leiden’s canals. The Meelfabriek Garden is one of the links in the chain, uniquely situated between the greenery of the Ankerpark and the Lakenpark.

The Singelpark is constantly evolving and is being continuously expanded. The Friends of the Singelpark Foundation is dedicated to this cause. The foundation’s mission is to create and maintain the most beautiful, exciting and longest urban park, for and by the people of Leiden, in collaboration with the council.

In September 2026, the Singelpark won the ‘Large Urban Parks Award 2026’. This category is intended for urban parks covering more than 10 hectares that excel in areas such as design, management, sustainability and community involvement. The award is international recognition for our exceptional city park, which surrounds the historic city centre.
